Interactive Web Developer
Geocentric is seeking a full-time Interactive Web Developer. Geocentric is a start-up software and services company located in the Downtown Silver Spring. You will work with Destination Districts on high quality web and mobile applications for Destination Marketing, Economic Development, and Tourism.
Our ideal candidate will be:
- enthusiastic and passionate about websites and web applications
- expert in web standards based development using XHTML and CSS
- competent in integrating JavaScript or PHP/MySQL scripts for interactivity
- comfortable using the Adobe Suite of products to move from a designers mock ups to a working site
- savvy on markup issues that may affect search engine optimization
- capable of coding and integrating Flash Actionscript 2.0/3.0 elements
- able to manage web server files remotely in a LAMP hosting environment
Requirements:
- minimum 3-5 years of directly related experience
- excellent technical and non-technical communicator
- able to translate soft client requirements into specific implementation strategies
- able to work independently or as part of a team
- strong appreciation of user experience and site usability issues
- able to learn, able to teach
- comfortable in a small startup/entrepreneurial environment
Our clients include organizations such as the Downtown DC BID, Center City Philadelphia, the Downtown Raleigh Alliance, Downtown Boulder Inc, the Silver Spring Arts & Entertainment District, the State of Maryland Office of Tourism, and the Washington Nationals.
